SLASH Interviewed On Q104.3's 'Jim Kerr Rock 'n Roll Morning Show'; Audio, Video Available

Legendary guitarist Slash was interviewed this past Wednesay morning (May 19) on WAXQ-FM / Q104.3's "Jim Kerr Rock 'n Roll Morning Show". The chat is now available for streaming using the audio player below. Also available is video footage of Slash's appearance on the program.

Slash says that drugs were the main reason for the split between VELVET REVOLVER and singer Scott Weiland in April 2008, according to Spinner.com. The guitarist told the web site, "We started off having a great time, but I think that we all had a lot of chemical issues as that thing wore on. I definitely went way down the fucing drain for a minute there after the 'Contraband' record (the band's 2004 debut) came out and we went on tour for two years."

Slash added, "During the 'Contraband' tour I started drinking heavily and revisited my opiate passion, then had to come out of it so eventually I had to say that's it. Certainly Scott had his issues, even Duff (McKagan, bass) and Matt (Sorum, drums) went down the same road. The only one that stayed sober during the whole thing was (guitarist) Dave Kushner."

Although the band got it together enough to make 2007's "Libertad" album, Slash says, "We lost Scott and we never regained that. I thought the overall spirit of everything was declining at that point . . . and canceling that Australian tour was the final blow."

VELVET REVOLVER is on hiatus now and has yet to find a singer. Slash recently issued his debut solo album, while Weiland rejoined STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, who issue a new record next week.

Although the split at the time was not amicable, Slash says about Weiland now, "I still love the guy and there's not really any hard feelings about the whole thing. I even hung out with him recently. It's definitely not like the GUNS N' ROSES situation, which is fucking deep and nasty, this is no big deal."
